Missed Photo Op ...

Lack of parking space kept LPR from actress Amber Gristak's 21st birthday celebration at Babel's on Manhattan's
Avenue C, the night of Setember 25. This photo was taken at Plaid, last May.

Manhattan Short Film Festival

LPR got this photo of Nick Mason at the Manhattan Short Film Festival, held September 19, at a former synagogue on Manhattan's lower east side. Mr. Mason is director of the festival which included
films from the United States, Great Britain, and Spain. Three years ago, this writer discovered the film festival in Union Square Park, days after 9/11.

Apparently, New York City denied permission for the festival to be held this year at the park.

A City Hall committed to cultural events might be more cooperative with the Manhattan Short Film Festival.

For more on this worthwhile NYC event, please go to the festival website: www.msfilmfestcom.

Is Shana on the right path?

Shana is here pictured observing some trash that had been gathered (and disposed of after this picture) on a path at a wooded area between a Torrington shopping center and residential complex. It is possible that the litterers at this place generally support moves to clean the environment? Such cleaning, however, begins at home, and not in the legislative chambers in Washington, DC, or Hartford. Must pride in community require statutes and ordinances?

Shana on the alert ...

SEPTEMBER 19, 2004 --

First 2004, then 2008

Senator Kerry can yet unbounded support muster

From Hillary - preferring Democrats he kinda makes squirm

To remove the lack and leave only only luster

He should promise to serve only one term

John Kerry signing autographs for supporters.

LPR noted that Mayor Bloomberg termed some of the anti-Bush demonstrators "anarchists." This accusation is probably a stretch.

Now, Noah of old -- he, of course, was an arkist.

LPR Predicts …

The post election buzz will be about the low turnout, with the media remarking that a re-elected President Bush must take into account the huge number of non-voters who, by their silence, indicated coolness towards the Bush agenda.

Media and Democrats (but, to borrow from Mark Twain, LPR repeats itself) will seem bitter about four more years of Bush and another GOP Congress, but will be gleeful the Bush-bashing opportunities continune.

Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton becomes the instant front-runner for the 2008 Democratic presidential nomination and soon will be acknowledged the titular leader of the Democratic party.

On the Republican side, the media -- not the party -- will put Rudy Giuliani at the top of the GOP 2008 presidential sweepstakes. Will the party turn to
Brother Jeb for 2008?

Last minute advisory to the GOP …

Ya better hold onto Congress or an impeachment bill against President Bush will be thrown in the House hopper real soon.

LPR Poetry Corner…

The southeast corner of 7th Avenue and 34th--one block up from Madison Square Garden and across the street from Macy's. Here police are using the netting to control pedestrians crossing 34th Street, after the convention session September 1.

A vast waiting throng in an urban setting

Wrapped at a street corner in orange netting

Police using tactics activists have long been dreading

Singles brought together--will some have a wedding?

The love of some couples will of course be tested

By arbitrary processes after they're arrested

Will they forever be parted when one is arraigned

Or will he wait for his girl, still in the pens detained

The Producers won the show division championship of the Broadway Show League, September 2, beating Beauty and the Beast.

This marks the third championnship for The Producers in four years and LPR expects that the sign outside the St. James Theater, on West 44th Street, where the musical is playing, will soon reflect this win.
