Reconsidering two Oscar Awards

March 5, 2020 --

Having seen "Joker," on March 1,  at Cinema West, downtown Manhatttan (one of the few theaters still running the movie),  LPR would reconsider the Oscar for Best Actor, and give this award to Anthony Hopkin as Pope Benedict XVI, and also to Jonathan Pryce, as Pope Francis in the film "The Two Popes." Joaquin Phoenix, of course, received the Oscar for Best Acton in "Joker."

He emoted quite a bit in the role, and did smoke many cigarettes. The acting of  Sir Anthony and Mr. Pryce, however, was subtle, superb, sublime  -- a joy to behold.

Not being able to choose between the two, LPR believes the two actor-popes should have shared Best Actor Oscars for the artistry of their roles in "The Two Popes."   And, yes, LPR would have preferred that "The Two Popes" had won the Oscar for Best Picture.
