Miles from the Mainstream
D. R. ZUKERMAN, proprietor
Gov. Pataki, Where Are You?

JANUARY 9, 2005 --

LPR returned on Janury 5, to Route 22 in Putnam County where, December 16, a pothole demolished the right front tire and rim on the LPRmobile.

The roadway looked about the same as on December 16 -- potholed and rutted. (And also heaving, LPR saw, January 5.)

The accompanying photos show Route 22 looking north near Doansburg Road, Township of Southeast, above the village of Brewster, and looking south on 22, near
Doansburg Road.

Another photo shows a heaving roadway,
a fourth photo shows the sign to the State Police office on Route 22, just below Doansburg Road.

Clearly, New York State knows or should know about the deplorable condition of this stretch of Route 22, which continues south, as indicated by the photos showing a pothole and serious ruts next to the popular Red Rooster hamburger spot.

Gov.Pataki -- what is going on with Route 22 in Putnam County? Are the potholes and ruts and heaves conducive to safe driving? Will the bad road condition be cited to ban driving altogether on this
stretch of Route 22?

Motorists. let's work together -- we have nothing to lose but our tires, rims, axles, undercarriages …
