Pedestrians Misdirected

OCTOBER 1, 2007 --

The sign at a pedestrian walkway in the Riverdale section of The Bronx, September 22, stated that sidewalk was closed and people should go to the other side. Except that at this location there was no other side to walk on and people had to walk in the roadway, unprotected from cars, buses and other vehicles.

The situation was called to the attention of NYPD Capt. Drew Kastner who immediately phoned the local precinct, suggesting that cones be placed in the roadway to protect pedestrians. Shortly thereafter, the case of the sign directing pedestrians into a roadway, unprotected from traffic, was closed.

Sidewalk Closed …

Cones to the rescue.
