APRIL
4, 2007 --
The
2007 major league season is underway and LPR asks: What is
to become of Yankee Stadium, when the
Yankees open the 2009 season in their new ballpark, across 161st Street in The
Bronx?
LPR noticed Yankee fans, Opening Day, on the southbound platform of the IRT's
161st Street station (here elevated) taking photos of the site of the Yankees'
new home, before the start of the penultimate season at "The House that
Ruth Built."
(Yankee fans might note that "Ruth" is an anagram for..."hurt.")
LPR expects that the construction site of the new ballpark will draw a great
many fans with cameras this season, and next.
LPR, of course, has been taking photos of this construction site for some time,
and got more photos, March 30, including images of cement being poured as the
new stadium rises on the north side of 161st Street.

Two days later, LPR
was at The Stadium's Press Gate, as Yankees arrived from spring training,
noting with some interest that Johnny Damon made a point of going to welcoming
Yankee fans
to give autographs.
