What President Bush Said
in the 9/11 Aftermath

JANUARY 16, 2007 --

September 11, 2001 -- (to the nation). "We will make no distinction between the terrorists who committed these acts and those who harbor them."

September 20, 2001 -- (to Congress): "From this day forward, any nation that continues to support terrorism will be regarded by the United States as a hostile regime."

November 10, 2001 --(at the UN) -- "We have a responsibility to deny any sanctuary, safe haven or transit to terrorists."

In view of these statements, LPR is not surprised that President Bush would has warned Iran and Syria of US action to counter their support of turmoil in Iraq.

LPR just wonders why the administration did not move against Iran and Syria sooner -- unless because of use by the media of "insurgents" or "militias" -- and not "terrorists" to refer to the … terrorists in Iraq.

For LPR, the message of the president's address, January 10 is that we cannot permit Iraq to become a terrorist sanctuary.

It is, therefore, unclear from this vantage point why the media, Democrats and
Republicans-in-Name Only say President Bush has only four to six months to succeed in Iraq.

Imagine if Lincoln did not change generals and had only a limited amount of time to succeed in fighting the South.

Imagine if, after the Kasserine Pass disaster in World War II, a study group was established and advised that we talk with Germany -- or, if members of Congress noted that our involvement in World War II was lasting longer than in World War I, or if legislators wondered why we invaded France, June 6, 1944, claiming: "France never attacked us."

LPR has decided on "Brooks Russert" (inspired by David Brooks and Tim Russert, Ted Koppel doing others things, now) as the generic name of commentators who suggest: " I am on television, therefore I know.

" We perhaps should be thankful there was no Brooks Russert to warn FDR that the American people are "war-weary" and he has to succeed by the 1944 presidential election -- or redeploy our forces in the European and Pacific war theaters.
