Democrats To Call for Presidential Transformation?

April 1, 2014 --

LPR has divined that Democratic leaders in Congress have drafted a resolution calling it "intolerable" that President Barack H. Obama is term-limited, while Russia's President Vladimir Putin is into his third term. LPR senses that Sen. Harry Reid and House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi will ask the president to determine that term limits applied to him, and not to members of Congress, are discriminatory, on an institutional basis. They will also note that the Twenty-second Amendment to the Constitution was a Republican reaction to President Roosevelt's four terms and that the two-term limit for presidents "must be seen for what it is: typical Republican mean-spiritedness that hampers U.S. conduct in international affairs."

A New York Times editorial will suggest that under current circumstances, President Barack H. Obama has authority to annul the Twenty-second Amendment by presidential directive as a denial to him of the equal protection of the laws.

The Times editorial will add: "If President Barack H. Obama has authority to delay implementation of the Affordable Care Act as he sees fit, the president clearly has the authority to do with the Twenty-second Amendment as he deems reasonable and proper."
