Down With the Proposed January 6 Commission

June 6, 2021 --

The matter is now up to the Senate, with the House having approved the idea, 35 Republicans going along with the House Democrats.

LPR believes that the Oblivious 35 -- oblivious to the trap Speaker Pelosi has made for the GOP -- should, every single one, be primaried. Monica Showalter at American Thinker has identified the 35 oblivious House GOPers.

(LPR also had a piece at American Thinker on the subject of the Oblivious 35, who LPR sees as having come down with a case of Cheneyitis.)

In the Senate, GOP leader Mitch McConnell says heis opposed to the idea of a January 6 commission.   May he stick to his guns.  Will ten Republicans vote with the Senate Democrats to override a filibuster against this commission to sandbag Republicans and bring us closer to totalitarian government.  Susan Collins says she will vote for the commission if it is bipartisan. -- that is to say, if the Republican members are all Never Trumpers.

Mitt Romney is likely to support the proposal.  LPR thinks he rarely saw a leftist proposal he didn't like -- the better to get favorable notices in leftist propaganda sheets.  Lisa Murkowski, Ben Sasse?  LPR would not be surprised if they go along.

But what if Mitch blocks the measure from even reaching the Senate floor?  After all, he kept Merrick Garland from getting on the Supreme Court.

How about a Republican senator responding to the lie that the crowd at the Capitol, January 6, amounted to an insurrection, by saying, "that would be an 'insurrection' taking less time than your average major league baseball game"?   Remember, the one person shot and killed at the Capitol January 6, was a civilian, Ashli Babbitt, shot by a Capitol cop, still unidentified, under circumstances still undisclosed.

And what's this that many people arrested January 6 are still held in solitary confinement yet only  face trespass charges -- charges that might be difficult to prove in view of videos that reportedly show the demonstrators were invited into the Capitol by...the cops?
