Rally for Kosova Independence

DECEMBER 28, 2007 --

A few thousand people gathered in Dag Hammarskjold Plaza opposite the United Nations, December 10, calling for the independence of Kosova and thanking the United States for its support.

One of the speakers was Richard Holbrooke, US ambassador to the United Nations in the Bill Clinton administration and chief U.S. negotiator at the 1995 accords on Bosnia.

Mr. Holbrooke, who would be expected to be a leading candidate for secretary of state in a Hillary Clinton administration, predicted that Kosova would be independent in a few months but warned that Serbia continues to present a "danger."

Mr. Hobrooke  advocated bombing Serbia into submission when Kosova fought to gain independence from Serbia in the late 1990's.
