JANUARY 4, 2008 -- The Bernanke prediction displayed in Times Square, last month. (LPR decided to stay away from Times Square, New Year's Eve -- not necessarily to avoid seeing other glum forecasts ushering in 2008.)
Last July, LPR, nearing Jacobs Field, in Cleveland, noticed a sign on a road asking for a nickel or dime and saw a figure waving to motorists. LPR did not forget that image which suggests that economic conditions are just aggregates of the human condition.
On a Rhode Island beach, last September, LPR got an image of a sea gull with something to say.
Outside Yankee Stadium, last summer, LPR spotted Yankee outfielder Johnny (Is he sorry he left the Red Sox?) Damon with two young fans, one of them not wearing a Damon shirt.

The Year 2008 is to be the last season played by the New York Yankees in Yankee Stadium. Will baseball fans throughout the country demand that "the House that Ruth built" not be demolished? The top of the Chrysler building, photographed by LPR, last month, from the 86th floor of the Empire State Building.
