Time at Yankee Stadium
he will be in a Red Sox Uniform
MARCH
26, 2006 --
LPR
took this photo of Josh Beckett (l) winning pitcher for the
Florida Marlins in the sixth and final game of the 2003 World
Series.
Standing next to Beckett is Marlin owner Jeffrey Loria who had effectively
been traded to the Marlins as owner for John Henry, who became owner of the
Red Sox. It is not clear to LPR that baseball will adopt a rule that when owners
go to other clubs, their players must follow. But Beckett is now pitching for
John Henry's Red Sox.
It is also not clear to LPR if Yankee -- "The House that Ruth built" --
Stadium will again be home to a World Series game, let alone a World Series
championship .To borrow the last line of an Edward G. Robinson gangster movie
of the 1930s: Is this -- like Ebbets Field and the Polo Grounds before it --
the end of "The House that Ruth built"? If New York City could save
Carnegie Hall …
