Regulation City

OCTOBER 3, 2006 --

Last week, New York City's Department of Health& Mental Hygiene proposed that restaurants be banned from cooking with
trans fats.

An op ed piece in The New York Times October 1 -- supporting the trans fat ban--also noted, approvingly, that the health department called for menus at restaurant chains to list calories with the
offerings.

Can the day be far off when New Yorkers will be instructed -- on pain of fines -- on their daily nutritional intake, hours of sleep, and manner of exercise?

This soul food eatery on Lenox Avenue in Harlem is already a no trans fat zone.
