The Special Counsel is to report to the Attorney General [28 C.F.R. 600.8(c)] and the Attorney General is to report to the Chairman and Ranking Member of the House Judiciary Committee [28 C.F.R.600.9(a)].
LPR wonders why the requirement to report on the investigation to members of Congress does not violate separation of powers. |
There never was any question that the president could fire the Special Counsel. C.F.R. 600.7(d) states: " The Special Council may be disciplined or removed from office only by the personal action of the Attorney General" The regulation goes on to indicate that removal requires "good cause."
