Trump-loathing Rich Lowry Kind of Backtracks

June 5, 2022 --

The column, at the Trump-loathing Politico (not Lowry's own National Review), was titled: "Trump is Finally Boring."

But look at the way this swipe at the former president ended:

There’s also no beating something with nothing. If Trump’s rallies are stale, what hot new event in Republican politics is going to supplant them? The fact is that Trump at his most dull still may be more interesting than a conventional Republican at his or her most entertaining.

A Trump march toward the GOP nomination will elate his supporters and create a five-alarm fire in the press and among Democrats. But at least everyone this time around will know what he’s going to say next.

Apparently Lowry has chosen to hedge his skewed view of Mr. Trump.

Still, like the rest of the Never Trump cabal on the so-called right, Lowry has difficulty accepting the fact that Donald J. Trump is a political fighter; he responds when rabid leftists attack, insult and dissemble. But, then, why would a "conservative" member in good standing in the deep state respond to attack from a fellow -- if leftist -- deep stater?
