JANUARY

LPR
would not be surprised to find the media speculating about
a
presidential run by Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg, if the Jack Abramoff
guilty plea proves to be the tip of a mountainous scandal in Washington.
It might, for example, be noted that a candidate capable of funding his own
presidential run is a candidate who can press, upon election, for clean government.
|
|
Indeed, it might
also be pointed out that a candidate who can finance his presidential
run can also run as an independent, which might prove attractive
to voters disgusted with politicians who seem to put personal ambition
above public service for the
common good.
LPR wonders -- if Iraqi detainees were paroled by a Bloomberg administration,
became cab drivers in New York City and got summonses from the Parking Violations
Bureau, would civil liberties groups protest PVB hearings procedures?
