Broadway Show League Championship Game

The BSL championship game will be played (weather permitting) August 20 at Central Park's Hechscher softball area, 1 p.m., between Atlantic Theater Company and August: Osage County. The accompanying photo shows Linda Rowland, August: O.C. pitcher celebrating her team's 12-10 win over Actors Fund, to reach the chamiponship game. Previous seasons, Linda and husband/teammate Bill, dedicated BSL players, would bring lawn chairs to watch the championship game. Linda informed LPR that this year, she and Bill definitely will not be bringing their "box seats" to the championship.

Midtown bleachers

The people in this image are not spectators at a tennis match, golf tournament. or half-court basketball game in mid-Manhattan. They are taking a break at the Duffy Square bleachers between Seventh Avenue and the
new pedestrian (referring to people, not bad-mouthing the idea) friendly Broadway in Manhattan's theater district. Faces in this crowd include a family from Wales. (U.K., not the creator of Wikipedia.)

Blue Knights

The Blue Knights - with the GWB in the background.

If you were driving north on the Henry Hudson Parkway, at about 11.20 a.m., August 9 and wondered about the column of motorcycles in the southbound lanes (or if you were driving south on the parkway at that time and wondered why your speed was sharply reduced) this is to report that the Blue Knights -- the international law enforcement motorcycle club -- was in town for its annual "suicide run" through New York City (excepting Staten Island) as part of a weekend that included a visit to Little Italy and fundraising for NYPD widows and orphans.

LPR estimates that some 300 motorcycles were in this year's "suicide run" -- but is prepared to be corrected with figures revised upward.
