D. R. ZUKERMAN, proprietor
Shana

OCTOBER 23, 2006 --

It happened the night of October 14, the night of Simchat Torah, the joyous holiday that celebrates God's gift of the Ten Commandments.

I have a hunch that Shana was taken on this occasion to recognize and to honor the joy she brought to people.

Indeed, Shana knew a lot more people than I did.

Expressions of sympathy point to a consensus that Shana was "special."

I was lucky to have been her sidekick for
17 years.

I thank Terri Fassio for her suggesting that Shana's ashes be placed at her favorite places.

I thank the Broadway Show League for the notice about Shana posted on the league's home page.

I thank all who have expressed sympathy to me on the loss of Shana.

I thank all who have welcomed Shana through the years: I again thank Howard and Debbie Jonas for giving Shana to me just 17 years ago.

And, of course, most of all, I thank Shana for being with me and for teaching us humans what a good, strong, brave heart is all about.

I love you, honey-bunny. And you know what I've learned this week?

I'm not the only one.
