A Still Relevant Sign from 2006

MARCH 19, 2008 --

"I'm Sticking with Joe" was a poster for the re-election of U.S. Senator Joe Lieberman, who won as an independent after losing the Connecticut Democratic primary to Ned Lamont.  It looks, now, that Joe is sticking with the presidential candidacy of Senator John McCain, the likely Republican candidate this year. It could be said, perhaps, that Sen.. McCain is also sticking with Joe.

A feature of Lieberman campaigning is diner and coffee shop stops, across Connecticut.  LPR would not be surprised to find the media trailing Candidate McCain, with Senator Lieberman, as they have coffee in towns like Litchfield, Torrington and Winsted indeed, in diners across the land.

Perhaps, too, someone will ask Senator McCain … at one of those stops, if he thinks we are just in an economic downturn -- or if some anti-American source is using its power over gas prices to wage economic war against the USA.

LPR would like to hear Senator McCain speak, during the post-nomination phase of this presidential campaign, in terms of reaffirming our founding legacy, renewing our spirit of liberty, reviving our initiative for enterprise -- all in the service of the American people.

LPR would also like to hear the views of Senator McCain whether high gas prices and usurious credit card interest rates serve the common good, indeed promote the national interest?
