APRIL

LPR predicts …
… that the wrongly-accused Duke lacrosse three will not sue. A lawsuit
would change the topic from prosecutorial
behavior to their behavior. Compare the matter of the Annapolis midshipman, as
reported in The Washington Post, April 14: a rape charge was dismissed but not
charges of misconduct. Apparently he cannot stay in the Navy and has to pay the
government $90,000 -- the cost of his education at the Naval Academy.
LPR believes …
… that the teams in a major national collegiate basketball championship
are, qua team at least, not exactly unpublic figures.
|
… it
is more likely than not that the college basketball players are above
the voting age, as well as the age of consent. (Not that there was
anything funny in the Imus satire.)
LPR wonders …
… if Big East schools will take action against any fans who, next season,
try to rattle Rutgers sports teams with chants of "We Love Imus" or
signs to similar effect. (LPR emailed the Big East league office on this, but
has not received a response. Perhaps the email got mixed up with emails concerning
the dismissed federal prosecutors -- the alleged targets of Eight-Gate.)
