The LPR Rap

MAY 28, 2004 --

Having heard the talented Wil b at the Billionaires for Bush ball (he uses the name 50 Billion when he entertains at Billionaires for Bush functions), LPR sat down and decided to write a rap taking aim at--the Democrats. A few hours after writing the verse, LPR listened to Wil b's anti-Bush rap, and heard a "rules/fools" rhyme. LPR has already e-mailed Wil b, affirming under penalty of perjury, that the "rule/fool" rhyme that follows was written before hearing Wil b's "rules/fools." Wil b's website is Dearmrbush.com. His political rap is available via the Billionaires website: Billionaires for Bush.com.

I'm gonna try and communicate by means of hip-hop verse

At risk of getting dissed as a politically incorrect rebel or even something worse

Putting down on paper some ideas on politics

Concerning pols who treat our taxes as their frolic tix

I guess the choice in 20 oh 4 is Bush 2 or John F. Kerry

Not exactly a presidential campaign to make us voters merry

In fact no matter how the polls on this race do roam

I'd bet a record number of voters are simply stayin' home

Now more than ever, in this land of free, home of the brave

The folks who get elected one thing they mainly seem to crave

Staying in political offices as long as they can be

Till they get themselves fixed with real big money-making opportunity

First they get their power and then bushels of money to follow

The sort of thing that leaves the spirit of democracy kinda hollow

There was once a time when our leaders were supposed to serve

Now they campaign for public office, throwing us a curve

Giving us what Hamilton called a pile of "obsequious court"

The better to gain the tyrannical power that all along they sought

Now that's in Federalist Paper Number One, I'm not being contrary

Just pointing out our Founders did not want power to be arbitrary

Once he or she is elected to office, they start to kick us outsiders in the shin

Who is a politician today? -- someone who wants to be with the crowd that's In

I know there are folks hoping the Democrats are still for the people

Sure, as they look down on us from way up in their power steeple

From a distance we appear about as big as a colony of ants

Badly in need of regimentation to keep us in eternal trance

They're not interested in serving, they really want to rule

Telling us we need them because we are the fool

This verse is getting long-- I don't want to put you to sleep

Let me sum it all up: our Founders were concerned about power's creep

I'm gonna cut this short, now, in words that are deeply heart-felt

It ain't your gosh-darn business if I don't click my seat-belt!
