1. The D.A.R.E. Auto Show

Three weekends before the start of the chase for the Nextel Cup, LPR was in Torrington, CT and happened to walk right into a top-flight auto show, with some 300 cars participatiing, including cars from the 1920's through the 1960's and one 1914 Model T.

The show was held under the auspice of D.A.R.E -- the organization in the forefront of the campaign against illegal drugs. LPR just happened to be in Torrington August 24, the day of the auto show. Next year, LPR will make it a point to be in town for this event, which it recommends to LPR clicksters.

2. The Bears

More recently in Torrington, LPR noticed the statue of a bear on all fours in frontof City Hall. Walking down Main Street, LPR noticed more bear statues, all painted in vivid colors.

If you want to see lots of painted bears this fall, Torrington is the place to spot them.

LPR does not deny the possibility that a live bear might also be spotted in the general vicinity.

LPR has not seen a bear ambling about the area; it did, however, spot some live and unpainted cattle at rest.
