JUNE
10, 2004 --
The traffic tie-up
shown here was repeated the following night, but with a cruel twist.
Motorists were advised, before the 125th Street exit that driving
would be a problem because of plates on the road. Motorists were
not told at that point, when it was still possible to exit the
highway, that further on three lanes would be reduced to one, adding
an extra half hour in travel time. Apparently in New York City,
the highway powers give no thought to adding to motorists' burdens--
remaining silent (gleefully silent) to the imposed traffic jams
up the road. Will it take a death resulting from this imposed half
hour delay to get the powers in New York to ease slightly their
squeeze on drivers?

Working
in two lanes so traffic can be in one lane will cause jams
even after midnight. Mr. Governor, Mr. Mayor, tell us in
advance!

Now
they tell us.
