US, Inc. -- or maybe United Colonies?

November 10, 2009 --

If the involvement of the citizenry in our political life is to be compared to the passive involvement of shareholders in our business world, perhaps we should drop the USA for US, Inc.

(Please note: LPR does not advise passive response to the snippings of talkers like Chris Matthews that would shoot down the First Amendment for all except those agreeing with them.)

But not only do we seem to have adopted a disconcerting resemblance to
corporate ways; we seem, increasingly, to accept a "family business" approach to our politics.

If this trend is irreversible, LPR suggests we end the Constitution's ban on titled nobility.

Hmm -- perhaps we should go whole hog -- repeal the Constitution, in toto. Yes, and respectfully ask the queen to take us back--if she will have us.

Gosh, and when LPR hears people, today, accusing critics of Washington of being "anti-government" LPR wonders if, 234 years ago, they would have hurled the same accusation against the Founding Fathers.
