Ukraine -- Wait a Minute!

June 1, 2014 --

What if Ukraine's New President Petro Pomeshenko, after ruthlessly crushing protesters in the eastern part of the country, killing hundreds of people, announces that he is ready to sign up with the European Union, but the EU falls apart?  The New York Times, May 27, reported that the election to the European Parliament of "scores of rebellious outsiders, including a clutch of xenophobes, racists, and even neo-Nazis" in the 28 EU countries left Europe's "political establishment" shaken, "calling into question the very institutions and assumptions at the heart of Europe's post-World War II order."

By the way, the White House cautioned the former Ukraine government, last December, not to use force against the anti-government protesters.  LPR does not expect to hear the White House condemning the use of force by the new Ukraine government against anti-government forces in the eastern part of the country.  Indeed, a statement from a current Ukraine deputy minister indicated that the current use of force in eastern Ukraine will continue "'until all the militants are annihilated.'"   But how will Putin react?
