August 5, 2023 --

As this is the beginning of August, the weeks at Camp Wabigoon for boys, and Camp Wahanda for girls, would be dwindling down to the last day of camp: August 26. By the end of July, both camps would be running on routines: sports, dramatics, evening activities, counselor day's off. Inter-camp softball and basketball games would have begun, and the boys' circus would have been held on the last Sunday in July. August would bring the Big Show, the trip to Tanglewood, the girls' circus, Color War, the season-ending banquet when the awards would be announced.

Rather than review, once again, summer at Wabigoon and Wahanda -- how LPR misses the lake where the camps spent 90 degree-days, this hot summer of 2023 -- here is the link to a video taped in connection with a Wabigoon-Wahanda reunion, June, 2019.

Alas, the passage of only a few years has brought with them the passing of some of the former campers shown in the video.

Here, LPR pays tribute to camp directors Phil and Gladys Brandstein, and longtime head counselors Millie Klotz and Saul (Rusty) Grant.
