Wondering Whither William Webster

January 5, 2020 --

Former federal judge, former FBI director, former CIA director William Webster (the only person to hold the FBI and CIA posts) chided President Trump and Attorney General Barr, in a December 17 New York Times op-ed article for criticizing the performance of the FBI concerning Russiagate.

In part, Mr. Webster asserted, "There were more than 100 contacts between members of the Trump campaign and Russian agents during the 2016 campaign, and Russian efforts to undermine our democracy continue to this day.

LPR wonders if the former judge and former two-time director  is casting aspersions on the president's loyalty.

The op-ed also stated that according to current FBI director Christopher Wray, Justice Department Inspector General Michael Horowitz said that the probe of Russia's interference in the 2016 election "'was opened with appropriate predication and authorization.'"

LPR also wonders if a forthcoming op-ed from Mr. Webster will appear chiding US attorney John Durham, should Mr. Durham find that the Russian investigation was based on fear and loathing of Mr. Trump by, among others, the heads of the CIA and FBI under President Obama.
