at Yankee Stadium

AUGUST 27, 2007 --

LPR was not at Yankee Stadium when the Yankees lost to the Detroit Tigers, Thursday, August 16.

The Bronx Bombers went on to beat the Tigers in the other four games of this series -- with LPR present outside the ballpark.

(It is, of course, up to the Yankees if they want LPR present on road games -- the team did not do well in Los Angeles without LPR outside the Angels home field.)

The accompanying photos include images of the events in the airspace above Yankee Stadium, August 18, Military Appreciation Day.

Yankees usually arrive at the ballpark dressed very casually during a home stand. They dress up (with some players wearing suits and ties) the day they leave on a road trip.

The accompanying photos include images of Derek Jeter and Mariano Rivera arriving at the stadium on a home-stand day and and also on road trip day.

It is not clear to LPR why Derek usually walks head-down from the Yankee parking lot to the players' entrance at the press gate.

LPR can, of course, understand why Tigers manager Jim Leyland has his head down after losing three straight to the Yankees.

The images of communicators for the Yankees include one of YES play-by-play, and fan-friendly, announcer Michael Kay signing autographs after the August 19 game with the Tigers.

Probably the two most fan-friendly Yankees are Jason Giambi and Johnny Damon (here shown after the August
19 game).

(LPR agrees that prominent people are advised to keep security in mind, particularly after December 8, 1980 and the murder of John Lennon.)

Construction is moving along at the site of the successor to "The [modified in the 1970's] House That Ruth Built" -- shown in an image taken recently on Jerome Avenue, looking east.

The image of Old Glory and the Yankee standard at half-mast was taken on Military Appreciation Day.

Perhaps, in view of the lamentable future for the grand old stadium, all flags in, and outside, the ballpark should henceforth fly at half-staff.
