Text of the New York Times editorial, April 2, on King Barack's Proclamation of the Our New Monarchy: the Amalgamated States of America:

Long Live Barack I

We applaud the proclamation of King Barack nullifying the Constitution and renaming the former United States as the Amalgamated States of America.  Finally, decisive action by a restored monarchy to get the nation back on track.  In turning away from the Declaration of Independence, King Barack properly described  that statement as  an illegal and mean-spirited statement.  We would point out that it is long past due that amends were made for all the insults contained in that declaration, including unwarranted slurs directed at the then-lawful sovereign, King George III.

Nor should we forget the vicious attack in that statement on the native population, living in peace on these shores for centuries before the arrival of the white man. At long last, King Barack has, denouncing the Declaration of Independence and nullifying a Constitution that originally tolerated involuntary servitude, released this nation  from  all connection with its original sin: slavery.  The Amalgamated States of America should look forward to a fair future as subjects of our new king.
